- If You Are Looking For Tons Of Organization, The GR3 Doesn't Have Much, It Does Have Tons Of Storage Space Though.
GORUCK GR3 Overview
First things first, the GORUCK GR3 isn’t your normal travel backpack, it’s a bag that is built by U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers who not only put this bag to the test by traveling the world, but put it to test during combat overseas in Afghanistan or Iraq.
So right off the bat you should know this bag is built tough and could withstand anything thrown at it.
One of the biggest things I noticed right off the bat when I received my GR3, was the large capacity.
This is a 45 liter backpack, which is the largest possible carry-on!
As I was feeling out the bag, you could tell that it is built tough with its 1000D Cordura and YKK zippers all around.
If you’re worried about your bag ripping or your zippers breaking while traveling, you will not experience that with this bag, it’s seriously built tough.
As for the digital nomads out there, you could carry your huge laptop within the GR3, and I’m talking about a 19″ laptop if you have one of those!
Oh yeah, and before I forget to mention, the GR3 is built in the USA and weighs about 5 pounds, which isn’t so bad.
The Quality Of The GR3
I touched up a little on this topic above, but the GR3 is built with 1000D Cordura and YKK zippers all around.
Now the way this bag is built is pretty much how the US military builds their rucksacks, so you know these are reliable bags.
I was in the Army and been through hell and back with my rucksack, so I know first hand that the GR3 is a bag that will last you for a very long time.
For some people who were never in the military, they might not like the fact that the GR3 is a military type of brand, it makes them feel like it’s a bag only for military personnel only.
Let me just assure you that this bag isn’t for just military folks, it’s a bag for those who want the best quality and a long lasting backpack.
So if you want the honest truth about the GORUCK Gr3, this is one of the best traveling bags you could ask for that will not break on you or let you down in anyway.
Is It Good For Travel?
I know many of you are wondering if the GR3 is really good for travel, so I want to give you a little insight on how I packed mine out for a 10 day trip.
As you could see, I have pretty much items in my packing list, my list consist of the following:
- T-Shirts (x10)
- Jeans (x2)
- Shorts (x6)
- Socks (x6)
- Underware (x6)
- Jacket (x1)
- Workout Shorts (x2)
- Slippers (x1)
- Shoes (x1)
- 15″ Mackbook Pro
- Extra Power Cords
- Notebook (x1)
- Toiletry Kit
To be completely honest with you, I did overpack just a tad bit, but it was better to have more than less I guess.
So I know your probably wondering if all that stuff really fit in the GR3?
Now that you have a good idea on how my GR3 looked packed out, let me just say there was still tons of space for me to put more items.
I could’ve added like 5 more shirts and another shoe if I wanted too, but I was fine with what I already had.
So when it comes to packing this bad boy for travel, it makes life so much easier and you don’t have to worry about all your stuff getting soaked if you do get caught in the rain like I did.
The GR3 is water resistant, so it will keep your things dry for a short period of time, just don’t go throwing it in a pool or anything like that because then it will be a different story.
So is it good for travel?
Heck yeah it is and there’s no doubt about that!
The Price & Warranty
Now this is where many people get chased away form getting this backpack…
Why is that you might ask?
Well the GORUCK GR3 doesn’t come cheap, and that’s because it’s built with the best material and will last you for a lifetime… literally!
To grab one of these amazing backpacks, it will cost you $545.00…
I know, a it’s bit up there right?
The price is the way it is because this backpack will literally take you on every adventure without you worrying if the zippers are going to break or if the bag is going to rip.
If you ever do encounter any tears or rips, the GR3 is backed with the Scars Lifetime Guarantee, which is pretty much the warranty for the bag to get it fixed.
So is the GR3 expensive?
Hell yeah it is… but is it worth getting?
I would say that it’s worth every penny and I don’t regret getting it!
If you aren’t looking to get any other bags for travel or whatnot and you want something that will last you for every trip you have planned ahead, then the GR3 is the one for you.
Why waste your money on other bags that will last you only a year a two if you do a lot of traveling, and get a bag that you know will last you a lifetime!
